E-rate Technology Planning
Technology planning is federally mandated for schools and libraries seeking technology funding from federal programs, including E-rate (also called erate). As a result, technology plans must meet federally established criteria and be approved by your state to enable you to receive any E-rate savings.
-
Do you have a technology plan that meets the FCC and state minimum requirements to receive E-rate funding?
-
Have you have identified all E-rate eligible items in your technology plan?
-
Are the eligible E-rate items you are about to bid included in your technology plan?
If you answered "No" or are unsure, TECedge can help you prepare a technology plan consistent with all federal and state requirements. But you must act quickly because you must have your technology plan finished (but not necessarily approved) before you go out to bid for E-rate services (except for basic telephone service).
TECedge can help you develop a technology plan that meets E-rate and state requirements. In order to receive E-rate funding, the FCC requires an approved technology plan that:
-
establishes clear goals and a realistic strategy for using telecommunications and information technology to improve education or library services
-
has a professional development strategy to ensure that staff know how to use these new technologies to improve education or library services
-
includes an assessment of the telecommunication services, Internet services, hardware, software, and other services needed to improve education or library services
-
provides a sufficient budget to acquire and support the non-E-rate funded elements of the plan
-
includes an evaluation process that enables the school or library to monitor progress toward the specified goals
